This extended birding experience explores a broader range of habitats beyond the village, combining gentle walks with slow travel between key birding areas. Moving between grasslands, fynbos and open farmland allows access to species not typically encountered on foot from town.
Group sizes are kept small to ensure unhurried viewing and close interaction with the expert host. Along the way, there’s a relaxed picnic stop in one of the scenic locations, with time to pause, scan for movement and take in the surroundings.
This roaming format offers a deeper Overberg encounter, with frequent close sightings thanks to the quiet pace and habitat diversity.
This experience when moving between habitats, is self-driven.
Possible species include: Blue Crane, Denham’s Bustard, Cape Clapper Lark, Plain-backed Pipit, Cape Long-billed Lark, Large-billed Lark, Karoo Scrub Robin, Capped Wheatear, Southern Red Bishop, Yellow Canary and Cape Canary.
